Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) will be offering about 5,000 free courses for Malaysian individuals and groups during its National Training Week 2023 (NTW 2023).

HRD Corp chief executive officer Datuk Shahul Dawood said NTW 2023 would be held from May 22 to 28, state publisher Buletin Mutiara reported.

“We hope to draw 5,000 trainers and collaborators for the NTW 2023, and they are expected to train up to 125,000 participants nationwide,” he said during a courtesy visit by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow to the HRD Corp office in Komtar.

With Shahul were HRD Corp chief financial officer Mohamad Farizul Yahaya, chief programmes officer Soffian M. Amin and its northern region head Suraindran Visuvanathan.

Shahul said participants could benefit from the wide range of training courses that would be open to people of all ages.

Soffian said the NTW 2023 also targeted employers, industry associations and business chambers.

“NTW 2023 participants will be able to boost employment or career advancement opportunities through self-development; while industries will be able to improve competitiveness and address skill gaps,” he said.

The HRD Corp team also highlighted the upcoming National Human Capital Conference & Exhibition 2023 (NHCCE 2023), which will be held at Setia SPICE Convention Centre on May 31 and June 1.

The two-day conference themed “HR 5.0: The Next Evolution in Human Resource Development” will feature constructive discourse that blends national perspectives with local insights and challenges across five essential tracks.

Shahul said NHCCE 2023 participants would be able to learn from some of the country’s renowned innovators and leaders as they discuss solutions to current human resources challenges, in preparation for HR 5.0.

According to the event prospectus, HR 5.0 is a new approach to human resources that will empower human resource professionals and organisations to adopt innovative solutions, garner data-driven insights and utilise key analytics for effective decision-making.

NHCCE 2023 is organised by HRD Corp in collaboration with Penang Skills Development Centre and is supported by Human Resources Ministry.

Chow lauded the effort by HRD Corp and said, “NTW 2023 enables Malaysians to make lifelong learning a culture, and it also equips talents with additional knowledge and skills needed for their career progress.”

He added that he hoped the industry players in Penang would seize the opportunity to be part of NHCCE 2023.
